SERVING IN NAIROBI, KENYA

ABOUT US
THE YOUNG FAMILY
We never wanted to be missionaries. I guess that's a weird way to start, but it's true.
Flashback 12 years. Evan had just graduated from Messiah College in Grantham, PA with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Studio Art. He was just a long haired dude without much direction or drive in life, and a stunning knowledge of TV trivia. His number one priority was having a good time.
Then he began dating Kristal, after winning her over through his Facebook stalking skills (who says romance is dead?). At the time she was about to graduate from Messiah with a Bachelors degree in nursing, plenty of drive, and a very specific direction in life. She never wanted to marry, didn't plan on sticking around the USA for very long after graduation, and was set on starting an orphanage somewhere overseas. But one thing was certain: after growing up as an MK, she knew she did not want to be a missionary.
God has a funny way of changing things.
After visiting Kenya in 2006 to visit Kristal's home, God planted a seed in our hearts that would forever change the trajectory of our lives: Missionary Aviation.
Over the next decade, He continued to cultivate that seed in our hearts and faithfully led us each step of the way. We quit our jobs, uprooted and moved across the country, got married, started a family, and decided to give up the life we had in America to move across the world as missionaries.
If you ask us why, the answer is found in Matthew 13:44.
"The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
Jesus Christ is the greatest treasure. He's worth giving everything up for, and there are billions of people who have never even heard of His name or His great love for them.
We want to do our part so they can hear.
